You have to make 2 circles around the rocks. The detection for this is very wonky and will often not work as you expect.

When entering Krematoa and talking to Boomer for the first time, you can use a bear skip to walk out of the house faster
Doing so not only saves cutscene time, but cuts off the game counting down your bonus coins, leaving you with enough to immediately re-enter his house and pay to open Rocket Rush
On the 2nd visit, you can bear skip again to save cutscene time, regardless of whether you got the first skip or not
You only get one attempt at each Boomer skip
