General Notes:

  • This is the biggest RNG point in the game by a large margin, the RNG being where the barrels end up spawning during the fight. If you opt to do an early hit on the Bee once it becomes vulnerable, you may risk a barrel spawning far away from you, giving the Bee an opportunity to spawn all of its baby bees, which can bleed a lot of time if they aren't knocked out upon spawning
  • This fight is absolutely doable with Diddy with some practice, but destroying all of the small bees is much easier as DK since he can just stand under the boss and auto kill them rather than needing to do a precise barrel throw for each cycle, so runners will typically swap to DK at the beginning of this fight and either sacrifice him or swap to Diddy before the next stage
  • Some cycles are less forgiving than others, as some cycles consist of bees that are grouped together that can be hit easily, while others consist of many individuals bees that take several barrels to defeat. This is important to consider when gauging which cycles to play risky and which ones not to. The 1st and 3rd batches of bees are more important to kill right away, whereas the 2nd and 4th batches of bees are easier to kill if you don't get all of them at once, allowing you to justify going for riskier hit prior to them.
  • For the 2nd and 4th batches, if you get the quick kills on the full batches of bees, the big Bee will immediately move downward and attack you, so be ready to dodge it during either of these cycles. Thankfully the big Bee doesn't do this after killing the 1st and 3rd batches. If you've already lost DK prior to needing to kill the 2nd or 4th batch, you will need to time a throw the barrels instead of standing under the bees.
  • When hitting the big Bee, it's best to hit it towards the left, giving you more time to reach any barrels that may spawn far away from you.
  • Delivering the final blow while the Bee is lower is generally faster

Optimal

Notes:

  • This fight relies on good, right side barrel spawns. You can take the fight even riskier and not wait for the bee to move to the left at all, but it's highly unlikely you'll get good enough RNG to pull it off in a run.
  • This saves ~10.7s over the safe video posted below, for reference

Safe

Notes:

  • This fight involves letting the Bee move far enough to the left after each hit for you to reach any barrel spawn in time to kill all of the subsequent little bees upon spawning
  • You can honestly do any combination of this fight and the optimal one, depending on which hits you want to take risky (or how frisky you're feeling)
