Learning the timings in this level can be hard because of how slow the barrel cannons are, you really need to lead your shots.

Any%

  • Similar to Vulture Culture, you want to buffer rolls every time you land out of barrel cannons. This means you won't be recovering stamina as you normally would from human error during roll-jump sequences, so be careful with your stamina; once you rollover one time, the next one is probably a dead roll. Stopping to walk to recover stamina is especially inefficient after coming out of barrel cannons since your speed is set to 0 when you land.
  • You can roll immediately from spawn to line up with the first Gnawty, then reroll to go through him. However this has the problem mentioned previously that you will need to recover stamina somewhere, so it turns out to be about even with just rolling forward and jumping. It's slower to run forward first and hit the Gnawty with the tail end of your roll - you want to carry the boosted roll as far as possible, which in this case is all the way to the first barrel cannon.
  • The sequence at 0:05 looks different in this game. At the end of this sequence just hold right and B to get to the next barrel cannon.
  • The reroll on the lower platform at 0:16 is the best place to spend stamina in the first half of the level.
  • At 0:22 if you fire the last barrel late you can get far enough on the platform that your roll goes over the ledge and continues. If you're too far to the left, you may be saved by the dead roll.
  • Recover stamina during the roll-jump sequence under the Kritters. Roll jumping is better here based on the length of the platform, since you can cross it in only two jumps, whereas three walks would be required. Camera locking to hit the second Kritter is possible and saves about 0.20 but most of this timesave is negated later since you'll need to recover stamina again before the next set of Kritters at 0:44.
  • At 0:31 a quick camera lock is performed, which stalls the last barrel just enough to reach it on the way up.
  • The barrel cannon sequence at 0:37 is difficult casually because the timing is not intuitive. The first cannon should be fired when the blast barrel is all the way to the left, and the second one should be fired immediately. If you miss you cannot steer, but the second shot will send you back to the first.
  • It's also possible to use a camera lock to set up a roll through all the Kritters at 0:44 but this creates a lot of lag which cancels most of the potential time save.
  • The alternating barrels at the end fire very slowly, as long as you shoot from above the next one you can't miss. You can miss the Necky if you fire from too high above him, though.
  • It's not necessary to jump into the third barrel since you'll need to wait on the final one anyways. Getting into the second one doesn't lose any time, but the first one will lose a cycle.
  • You will automatically get sent to Funky after finishing the level.

87%

  • Only DK can make the jump directly into the bonus at the start. If you didn't put him in front in the previous level, you can switch to him now. After coming out of the bonus you'll get shot through the floating DK barrel and you can switch back to Diddy at your leisure.
  • You do not need to recover stamina during the rolls at 0:29 since you will enter the bonus. Be careful not to dead roll.
  • No camera lock at 0:37 since you need the barrel to move down, rather than rushing to catch it on the way up.
  • Don't fire too early to get into the bonus, if you're too high you'll get snapped up to the platform above. It's possible to do this part using the camera lock from any% and roll off the platform, however this is slower.
  • If you accidentally fire straight up in the bonus, remember to move out of the way so you don't fall back into the barrel, and avoid the bananas on the way down.
  • The sequence at 0:52 looks slightly different since you don't have a stored extended roll.
