Instead of being an easy flying level, this is actually a very technical rolling and ice sliding level.

Any%

  • DO NOT take Expresso in this level!
  • Recall that ice physics reduce ground acceleration by a factor of 8, but don't affect rolling or air movement. That means that it's much faster to walk for 10 frames out of rolls instead of jumping out of them.
  • Lots of rolling and ice sliding at the start - getting the third roll from the top of the ledge is tight, it's fine to walk a little further and just roll from the bottom. It's faster to briefly slow down to roll through the Neckys instead of skipping them.
  • Diddy should make it under the nut at 0:12 no problem, but DK has issues sometimes. If you're playing DK, it's best to slow down to make sure you go under the nut. You can grab the DK barrel here, or wait to get the floating one after the star barrel.
  • Camera locking at 0:14 delays the first rope to make it possible to jump directly to the second rope instead of having to wait for the first one to swing. Be careful not to rollover during the previous roll or the camera locked roll will dead roll. It's not necessary to recover stamina immediately here since there will be a sequence of roll-jumps ahead which give plenty of time to recover stamina naturally through human error.
  • At 0:20 gravity glitch is taken to allow rolling slightly further off the platform. It's not necessary to do so here but the platform is just long enough to make this economical. You have to roll from the edge of the platform to make it to the blast barrel and the first roll doesn't take you far enough to reach the edge with a walk or a short jump.
  • At 0:27 another gravity glitch is acquired before rolling through the Manky to make the boosted roll float further across the gap. This jump is possible without it but it's slower and more difficult. This is a really long jump so make sure not to release A before landing. Also, don't delay rolling for too long or the rope can get in the way.
  • It's optimal to get another gravity glitch immediately afterwards to get more distance from the roll off the tire platform go further, but this isn't necessary. Be careful to roll from the ledge next to the tire and not run up onto it.
  • A safer alternative to this section is to simply bounce the Manky, jump off the rope, and bounce off the tire and Necky. This is only about half a second slower.
  • At 0:37 you want to start the camera locked roll from the corner between the flat platform and the slope, and try to walk for 10 frames before rolling through the Manky if possible.
  • There are several options to cross the small platforms at 0:40. If you jump early enough to the rope you can get a stored extended roll which you can use to roll across the first two platforms, then do another camera locked roll from the third. It's also possible to do the camera locked roll from the second platform and get it to ledge extend. You can even fall under the third platform and jump under it to the larger platform with the arrow sign.
  • The bottom platform is just long enough that the camera locked roll will likely end before the end of the platform. It's possible to reroll across the gap and directly into the Manky but this roll is very precise, rolling too early causes the roll to not reach the Manky and rolling too late causes a sloped roll which won't clear the gap. Jumping out of the initial roll without rolling over is also usually a bit too slow to catch the Manky before he throws his barrel. Therefore the best way to clear this section is by simply doing a small reroll and jumping.
  • If you carefully recover your stamina before the end you can roll across the final gap and slide into the last roll instead of having to jump.

  • Expresso isn't even in the first bonus. You don't want him anyways.
  • The second bonus is hard not to win, if you just go for the first and second barrels immediately you'll usually get two green balloons. To lose quickly, go for the first and third barrels instead.
  • You can turn around before grabbing the stickerbook to set up the camera locked roll. This platform is really easy to slide off so it's best to position yourself in the air then not move at all while standing on the platform. For this reason, it's important to turn around before landing.

If for some reason you ignored all warnings and took Expresso, know that it IS possible to clear the large gap with him and finish the level. You need to jump from the highest possible point, which is directly behind the Necky guarding the DK barrel. Grabbing gravity glitch before jumping is mildly helpful. You also need to tempo your flaps, about 5 A presses per second is optimal, mashing actually loses height more quickly. If you do manage to clear the level with Expresso, he's about 10 seconds slower in the best case scenario.
