Optimal with Jumproll (DK Start)

Notes:

  • If you do the Antics Blaster as DK, you should start this stage as DK by default. If you do the Antics Blaster as Diddy (safe method), you should be picking up DK in Elevator Antics and swapping on Enguarde in Poison Pond to take advantage of starting this stage as DK (saves ~2.3s doing MCM as DK)
  • The midair rolling glitch only works on U-1.0/1.1 and J-1.0.
  • The midair rolling glitch is finicky and will only activate under certain circumstances.
  • When starting the stage as DK, you will want to do an early roll through the first Gnawty, then start another roll right in front of the 2nd Gnawty. Doing this instead of an extended roll through all 3 Gnawties will allow you to get the midair rolling glitch with 100% consistency.
  • Once the front edge of the minecart is slightly past the wooden plank on the track that's under the Necky's feet, do a jump into the Necky to activate the glitch.
  • You can use Float Storage to roll through 2 birds before getting to the Jumproll, but you can also just do whatever roll pattern you feel comfortable with.
  • To do the Jumproll on the Necky, jump over him and press Y on the same frame that you land on him. It helps make timing the trick easier if you jump and land on the Necky from up above, rather than coming in from the side, as it's a lot less ambiguous when you're going to land on him.
  • If you miss the Jumproll on the first bird, you can try again on the second. Careful not to time the Jumproll late, though, or you'll fall helplessly.
  • The Jumproll only saves ~2.5-4 seconds, so it's not worth stopping to try multiple times.
  • The midair rolling glitch will end near the first platform with a tire on it, so be careful!
  • The left side tire roll at 0:44 is only reliable if you use Float Storage.
  • try to bounce on the last 2 Krashes in the stage as low as possible so you can land in the next minecarts earlier.

Missed the Jumproll

Notes:

  • Similarly to when you're optimizing movement on the ground, it's best to do min height jumps to get as many rolls in as you can.
  • You can only roll once you reach the peak of your jump.
  • Try to roll through as many Neckys as you can to make up for lost time.
  • The midair rolling glitch will end near the first platform with a tire on it, so be careful!

Optimal with Jumproll (Diddy Start)

Notes:

  • The midair rolling glitch only works on U-1.0/1.1 and J-1.0.
  • Switch to Donkey and run into the cart. Do not jump into it. Make sure you aren't right near the edge when you start running or it won't work. Watch Diddy (inactive) as you enter the cart. He has to be still be on the platform (typically he will be running) when Donkey enters the cart.
  • If you miss the Jumproll on the first bird, you can try again on the second. Careful not to time the jumproll late, though, or you'll fall helplessly.
  • The Jumproll only saves ~3-4 seconds, so it may not worth stopping to try multiple times.
