Notes

  • Beware of the very edges of the ledges in this stage, as they may eat rolls or jumps.
  • At 0:56, wait for the tire to be rolling on ground before bouncing on it. Throwing the DK barrel at the cutlass is part of the waiting.
  • It is possible to do a Scrolly Scroll in this level as seen in Hornet Hole. Referencing the video, the trick begins at 1:05.
    • The entire goal of the trick is to get hit by the bee and time entering in the diagonal barrel such that Dixie lands on the tire.
    • To do so, repress Y to flutter once Dixie flies up offscreen, then only turn back to enter the barrel after collecting 2 bananas.
    • If successful, moving right will give you enormous speed and momentum.
  • At 1:12, simply face left to pause the Scrolly Scroll and wait for the rolling tire cycle.
    • Make sure to cancel the flutter by letting of Y right before landing on the tire, but don't let go of right. Failing to do so will result in death.
  • Bouncing on the klampons will end the Scrolly Scroll, so avoid them.
  • Near the end, simply run off the ledge and buffer a jump from the lower platform. This will avoid the goal fanfare. Rolling off the ledge does not save any time.

Optimal

Notes

  • The roll over the first tire saves 0.13s.
  • At 0:10, climbing the hill quickly will make it easier to squeeze through the bee and the tire at the top, saving 1s.
    • A good visual cue is to start jumping after the tire has passed halfway through the Venus Flytrap in the background, then do a full jump as soon as possible onto the next tire.
  • At 0:21, a medium jump over the tire will avoid the bee without ever letting go of right.
  • Jump out of the roll into the bonus barrel when Diddy is under the top 2 bananas in the middle (saves 0.15s over safe).
  • In the bonus, throwing Dixie when closer to the flitters is faster, excluding the back throw intentionally done from the ground.
  • The bounce at 0:55 can be tricky, as landing on the left side of the tire will result in death. Using the decorations as visual cues for the roll and jump inputs is a good idea here.
    • If done successfully, only 2 tires will be bounced on, saving 0.4s in total over the safe strategy.
