Any% - DK Route

  • If you didn't get Diddy in Jungle Hijinxs, you'll need to get him now.
  • With proper positioning you can get a big triple roll at the start of the level by ledge extending immediately before hitting the snake. The correct position is just a few pixels in front of spawn, so the best way to get this is to hold right and walk forward for a few frames before rolling. If you bounce the snake it means you rolled too early, if you only get a double roll it means you rolled too late.
  • There's no great place to attempt switch glitch so you might as well swap to Diddy now. Or play the rest of the level as DK if you want, it doesn't make that much of a difference. DK can pretty much do everything Diddy does here anyways.
  • Stopping to hit the two Kritters at 0:06 is faster than rolling under them.
  • At 0:11 you get a ledge extend from the first tire, then buffer a reroll.
  • At 0:14 you want to do a big jump before your roll ends, and hold A all the way through to get gravity glitch. Then you can space the next roll to go under the bee, ledge extend, and float over the tire. Another safe option is to walk, roll, and roll again under the bee.
  • Buffer rolls out of the crawlspaces at 0:18 and 0:25.
  • Another ledge extend over the tire at 0:21.
  • The final big roll up the staircase at the end is a cool and unique GBC strat which simply requires rolling from the ledge after the tire, before the snake pit. Camera locking is not necessary, this just grants the hit on the final Kritter which saves a small amount of time. If you don't camera lock, Diddy's roll will usually end right before the exit, meaning you have to start another roll. Ironically, DK's roll is usually able to go all the way to the end; since his extended rolls are shorter, it means that he is still falling off the ledge on his end frame which allows him to get another ledge extend. If you don't want to do the camera lock, this can be a decent reason to keep DK through this level instead of swapping to Diddy immediately.

Any% - Diddy Route

  • If you took Diddy in Jungle Hijinxs you don't need to get him here, so instead you can carry your triple roll from the start for its full duration.
  • After the initial triple roll you can roll again immediately, then recover stamina while standing and waiting for the Kritter to come down.
  • Otherwise the rest of the level is the same as before.

87%

  • Don't get the DK Barrel yet.
  • If you turn around in the air before picking up the barrel to open the first bonus, it will break on the wall during the pickup, skipping the pickup and throw animations. You don't need to worry about rushing into the bonus immediately anyways due to bonus block.
  • Hold right and B out of the first bonus to make it up to the higher platform.
  • Even though DK doesn't jump as high, he is bigger. Only DK can make it up to the second bonus without using the tire and top platform.
  • After exiting the second bonus, hold right but release B a bit early to slow down so you can roll from the top platform. This roll will ledge extend on the tire. DK won't make it as far but you can reroll at the bottom since you'll have full stamina here. You can proceed as usual with a big jump, taking gravity glitch and positioning the next roll to float under the bee with a ledge extend.
  • At 0:27 you finally get Diddy since you need a barrel here to open the bonus. Stomping the snake is the most consistent way to get the barrel to its destination.
  • You can attempt switch glitch on this bonus exit. If you miss it, it's fine to just finish the level with DK.
